పది రోజుల పాటు ఘనంగా జరిగిన టొరొంటో చిత్రోత్సవం మొన్న ఆదివారంతో ముగిసింది. ప్రపంచంలోని అన్ని చిత్రోత్సవాలకంటే ఎక్కువ సినిమాలు(350?) ప్రదర్శించిన ఘనత ఈ చిత్రోత్సవానికే దక్కుతుంది. ప్రపంచంలోని వివిధ సినీ పండితుల విశ్లేషణ ప్రకారం ఈ సారి ప్రదర్శించిన సినిమాల్లో చాలావరకు బాగానే వున్నాయని తెలుస్తుంది. 390 సినిమాలు ప్రదర్శించినప్పటికీ అందరు అన్ని సినిమాలు చూసే అవకాశం వుండదు కనుక ఏ ఒక్కరి అభిప్రాయం బట్టి ఇవి మంచి సినిమాలు, ఇవి కాదు అని ఒక నిర్ణయనికి రావడం కష్టం.కాకపోతే చివరి రోజున న్యాయనిర్ణేతలు ఎన్నుకున్న సినిమాలే మేలైనవని ప్రకటిస్తారు కాబట్టి ముందుగా ఈ చిత్రోత్సవంలో అవార్డులు సాదించిన సినిమాల గురించి తెలుసుకోవడం వుత్తమం.

అవునన్నా కాదన్నా మనందరికీ సినిమాలంటే విపరీతమైన అభిమానం. అందుకే మన వాళ్ళు తీసే సినిమాలు అంతగా బాగోలేకపోయినా చూస్తూనే వుంటాం. చూడ్డం సంగతి పక్కనబెడితే మనమూ సినిమాలు తీద్దామని చాలా కలలు కంటుంటాం. ఒక వేళ అదృష్టవశాత్తూ మనకు అవకాశం వచ్చి సినిమా తీద్దామన్న మన చుట్టూ వున్న పరిస్థితులు మనల్ని ఆ రోటీన్ వ్యవహారంలోకి లాగేస్తాయి. కానీ ఆసక్తి కలిగిన వాళ్ళు మంచి సినిమాలను సునిశితంగా పరిశీలించడం ద్వారా ఎన్నో విష్యాలను తెలుసుకోవచ్చు. ముఖ్యంగా ప్రపంచంలోని అత్యున్నత సినిమాలను స్టడీ చేయడం ద్వారా ఫిల్మ్ లాంగ్వేజ్ ను బాగా తెలుసుకోవచ్చు. ఒక్క సారి ఫిల్మ్ లాంగ్వేజ్ పై బాగా పట్టు సాధించాక అందులో ఎన్ని ప్రయోగాలయినా చేయొచ్చు. మనకంటూ ఒక భాషను సృష్టించుకోవచ్చు. అలా తమ కంటు ఒక శైళిని సృష్టించుకున్న దర్శకులు చాలా తక్కువ మందే వున్నారు. అదీ మన దేశంలో మరీ తక్కువ. ఇలా తమకంటూ ఒక భాషను రూపొందించుకున్న దర్శకుల్లో నాకు గుర్తొచ్చేది ఒక హాంగ్ కాంగ్ దర్శకుడు. హాంగ్‌కాంగ్ సినిమా అనగానే హీ...హూ అంటూ సాగే కుంగ్‌ఫూ ...
